Urgent Appeal for Flood Victims in Pakistan
Ramadan is a blessing month for Muslims, but it is also a testing month this year for our Pakistan brothers and sisters who are facing a worst flood ordeal they have ever seen in their history. The flood has claimed more than 1500 lives and made at least 4 million people homeless. Till now one fifth of the country --- about the size of England --- are submerged by flood waters, leaving 20 millions in dire need of shelter, food, clean water, medicine and basic humanitarian assistance.
In this blessing month of Ramadan, it is time for us to be thankful to Allah and to be mindful of our duties towards others, especially our fellow Muslims, who are in need. On behalf of our Muslim brothers and sisters in Pakistan, we call upon our members and all Muslims to make the most of your efforts to help the flood victims out in face of the crisis.
